Rich McMonagle (Chief Administrative Officer - TxDOT), Keith Dosch (Widgeon Construction, Inc. Vice Chair for Highways), and James Bass (Executive Director - TxDOT) at the May 15 Beaumont Area meeting. Mr. Bass was the keynote speaker. He discussed the efforts of the department to increase the letting and discussed estimated deposits of Propositions 1 and 7.

Jeff Gibson (Gibson & Associates) was invited to discuss his experience with We Build Texas in the Lubbock District. Also joining him was Shane Cunningham, Tyler director of construction. “We could have called it We Build Texas: a Guide to Communication,” Gibson said to a packed audience. “Partnering is not a five-minute discussion at the beginning of a meeting.” Gibson went on to discuss the dangers of what he calls “the millennial bug:” the desire to prioritize efficiency over relationships by neglecting to meet in person prior to the start of a project up to completion.

Trinity Lightweight shows off its wares at the TxDOT Construction, Pavements and Materials Conference, held May 23-25 at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin. 2018 marks the first year industry personnel were invited to attend. Under the direction of Construction Director Gina Gallegos, partnership was a recurring theme throughout the event.
