AGC Presents Scholarship Awards on Program’s 20th Anniversary

Written by

This year, AGC members celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the creation of the chapter scholarship program. Hundreds of young adults have sought and received the patronage necessary to make their educational dreams come true, thanks to the generosity of Chapter members.

AGC members believe in the future of the industry, and are willing to put their own time and effort into its persistence. Through the Scholarship Committee, the Chapter has continued to develop and improve upon a program to award scholarships to young Texans interested in pursuing a career in the construction fields. The Scholarship funds are provided almost exclusively from the proceeds of the Gala Auction each year.

The Chapter now provides $4,000 per semester for undergraduate and vocational education. It is our hope that this amount will help launch these students on a career in construction. The 2014 program continued our successful tradition. The selection process was not easy due to the outstanding response from a very accomplished group of applicants this year. Thirteen students were chosen to receive scholarships in 2014, each one representing a tremendous academic performance and a commitment to pursuing a career in the construction industry. We look forward to seeing these young adults become the industry leaders of tomorrow, and are proud of the Chapter’s hand in leading them into it.

Special thanks go to Chairman Elizabeth Weisman and the members of the 2014 Scholarship Committee for their hard work and dedication to this program. And extra special thanks go to the members who participate in the Scholarship Gala, who make this fund possible. The 2014 Scholarship Gala is almost upon us—September 10—so for those of you who wish to be a part of this stupendous event, we recommend you secure your tables now. It’s always a sold-out event, and with the talented musical guest John Anderson headlining the entertainment, we expect 2014 to be just as successful.
