The chapter's second annual Scholarship Gala was held Tuesday, August 7 at the picturesque and supremely accommodating Four Seasons Hotel in Austin. This summer, the event drew over 400 chapter members and industry friends for this spectacular event and commendable cause. Attendees were met with a variety of silent auction items, among them jewelry and purses for the ladies, belts and football tickets for the gentlemen.
Once guests settled into the ballroom, the central event of the night, the Live Auction, began. Hunts, fine jewelry, races, and international vacations were freely offered up by AGC members, all for the great cause of supporting our industry’s next generation of talent. And support they did—all told, the event raised a record $509,000. With over a half million reasons to celebrate, guests were able to get on the dance floor and shake a leg to legendary artist Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel. I would like to extend a special note of gratitude to the major underwriters, as well as the many members who sponsored, donated items, won items, or just drove up the price. As members of the AGC of Texas, our scholarship program is something we can all be proud of. Hats off to you all, and we’ll see you again next year.
