Nov. 1, we will publish the “2014 TxDOT Standard Specifications for Construction and Maintenance of Highways, Streets and Bridges.”

When this issue lands in your mailbox, the countdown will have begun for the November 4 General Election. Many regular television viewers may well be fed up as the continuous torrent of 30- and 60-second ads bombard their screens.

This is wonderful news for proponents of highway funding, which is just about every person using Texas highways. This Chapter and its partners are more energized than ever to educate Texas voters on the need for this measure.

All of our efforts remain focused on helping to inform and educate Texans about the critical importance of Prop 1 on the Nov. 4 election ballot as it relates to highway funding and investing in the future of this great state.

Texas is home to one of the largest and most complex transportation systems in the world. By the same token, The Texas Department of Transportation is home to the best and brightest project design and construction professionals.

Earlier this year, Congress passed yet another temporary fix to the Highway Trust Fund, the source of all federal highway, bridge and transit construction funding.
