President's Message - March/April 2014

With the March 4 Texas primary election upon us, most of our state legislature races will be decided this month, or by the end of runoffs following shortly thereafter.

The Importance of Water Funding

On November 5th, voters will be asked to cast their ballot on several issues concerning our state. The one of particular import to this association is Prop. 6, a water initiative that will provide a revolving account of $2 billion from the Rainy Day Fund for use in funding projects in the state water plan.

After a grueling regular session and three called sessions, numerous calls to action, and an unprecedented amount of member involvement, the 83rd is officially over and Chapter members have exactly one moment to congratulate themselves on a job well done before the next grassroots education campaign begins.

AGC of Texas Awards 2013 Scholarships

2013 marks the 19th anniversary of the creation of the chapter scholarship program. The AGC of Texas has continued to work to develop and improve upon a program to award scholarships to young Texans who are interested in pursuing a career in the construction field.

The Texas Transportation Commission today adopted guiding principles and policies that will govern the development, construction and operation of toll road projects on the state highway system and the Trans-Texas Corridor.
